What can sustainable wine production look like in practice? In Austria, renowned scientists have worked with the Federal Environment Agency to develop a certification tool that assesses the work of wineries on the basis of nine sustainability categories. Using the "Sustainable Austria" certification as an example, the potential for improvement in wine production will be discussed.
